Women's Tennis Wraps Up Bronco Invitational

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Marquette women's tennis team concluded its first tournament of the season, the 2001 Bronco Invitational in Kalamazoo, Mich.
In the Flight A Singles, Genevieve Charron finished with a 2-1 record. She defeated Nikki Douglas of Western Michigan in her match on the final day of the tournament. Annabelle Espinosa finished 1-1 in the flight, but did not play Sunday.
Anna Pavlovic advanced to the finals of the flight B singles, but lost to Martina Grimm of Indiana, 6-2, 6-3. Pavlovic finished with a 3-1 record for the tournament. Sommer LaValley went 0-2 in the flight.
Amanda Devraj competed in an exhibition match in the Flight C Singles. She lost her match to Shelly Brizendine of Ball State, 6-4, 4-0. Devraj was 1-2 during the tournament. Alexandra Stankovic did not play on Sunday, but finished 0-2 for the flight.
Pavlovic teamed with Eva Herrera to advance to the Flight A Doubles final. They were scheduled to meet Linda Tran and Brenda Schlukebir in the final, but it was not held. The duo went 3-0 during the tournament. Charron and Espinosa was 1-1 in the event.
Stankovic and Devraj finished the Flight B Doubles event with a 2-1 record. The played an exhibition match against Kelly of Ball State and Stoilova of Western Michigan, losing 8-4, to even their record at 2-2.
The women's tennis team returns to action on Oct. 5-7 at the Michigan Tournament in Ann Arbor, Mich.
