MU Falls to Virginia Tech, 4-3

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Marquette (1-3) lost its third match of the season, falling to 75th ranked Virginia Tech, 4-1, at the Ohio State Tennis Center.
Virginia Tech (4-1) matches to capture the first point of the morning then split the six singles matches for the victory.
Kristen Stubbs defeated Genvieve Charron in the No. 1 singles match 6-2, 6-4 and Meredith Vincent came from behind to pick up a 6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2 over Eva Trujillo.
The Hokies' other singles win occurred at the No. 5 position where Zdenka Videnova defeated Anna Pavlovic 6-1, 6-3.
In the other three singles matches, Anabelle Espinosa defeated Ginger Lowdermilk 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 to and Veronica Briseno downded Carolyn Kramer 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4. Alexandra Stankovic picked up a big win over Felicia Lam at the no. 6 spot 5-7, 6-3, 1-0.
Virginia Tech opened the day by sweeping the three doubles matches. Kramer and Vincent defeated Briseno and Charron 8-6 at No. 1 while Lam and Stubbs picked up an 8-3 win at No. 2 over Pavlovic and Trujillo. Lowdermilk and Videnova completed the sweep with an 8-5 win over Espinosa and Stankovic in the No. 3 match.
