Women's Tennis Concludes Bronco Invitational

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Marquette concluded the 2002 Bronco Invitational with singles matches against Ball State. MU was successful, winning three of the five contested matches.
Freshman Michelle Mojzis upped her weekend record to 2-1 defeating Jenny Battey, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0, at the no. 2 position. Junior Veronica Garcia Briseno also improved to 2-1 on the weekend, defeating Jill Wieman at the no. 3 spot, 6-0, 6-2. Senior Anna Pavlovic matched her teammates' record at 2-1 with a win today against Leisa Brooks, 6-2, 6-1.
In the hidden dual format, no team scoring was kept for the weekend, but had it been kept, MU would have won three of four dual matches. MU took six of seven matches against Indiana, defeated Ball State, 4-3 and defeated Michigan State, 4-1. Marquette was very successful in doubles matches this tournament, going a combined 8-2.
Marquette women's tennis continues its fall season on Oct. 4-6 at the Wolverine Tournament in Ann Arbor, Mich.
