Women's Tennis Upends South Florida, 6-1

Milwaukee-The Marquette women's tennis team coming off of its 6-1 win yesterday against Saint Louis, repeated its performance beating the University of South Florida, 6-1. Marquette gave up just four sets in singles play, winning three in straight sets. The Golden Eagles improve to 3-11.
In No. 1 singles, Michelle Mozjis held on after Fabiana Taverna made a comeback in the second set to take the match, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2. Mojzis now has a record of 5-11.
Eva Trujillo Herrera has a 7-15 record after she beat Patricia Kolendo, 6-1, 7-5, in No. 2 singles.
Annabelle Espinosa was the only Marquette player to come away from the match winless. She fell in the No. 3 singles match to Luisa Obando, 6-0, 7-6, bringing her record to 2-11.
Veronica Garcia Briseno continues to cruise for the Golden Eagles adding her 21st win of the season against Talia Romero in No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Garcia Briseno's record of 21-8 is the best on the team.
Anna Pavlovic came out of the No. 5 singles match on top of Gina Craig, 6-3, 6-1. Pavlovic holds a 13-12 record.
In the No. 6 position, Genevive Charron claimed a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, win over Belen Pandre. Charron's record is 2-5.
The Golden Eagles breezed through the doubles matches to claim the point. The No. 1 duo of Pavlovic/Mojzis won, 8-6, over Taverna/Obando. Garcia Briseno/Espinosa took the No. 2 match, 8-4, over Romero/Craig. The No. 3 match belonged to Alexandra Stankovic/Trujillo Herrera as the duo beat Jamie Larson/Kolendo, 8-6.
Marquette plays again on March 22 against the University of Michigan at noon.
