Women's Tennis Slips In Match to Illinois, 6-1

Milwaukee-The Marquette women's tennis team was defeated, 6-1, by the No. 25 ranked University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign. The Golden Eagles fall to a 1-11 season record after yesterday's loss.
Veronica Garcia Briseno continues to win as she defeated No. 123 Briana Knus in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, in the No. 4 singles match. Garcia Briseno holds the best record on the team with her 19-8 mark. She has won nine matches in the 2003 season.
Michelle Mozjis took her No. 1 singles match against No. 62 ranked Jennifer McGaffigan into an extra set yet fell, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Mojzis's record now stands at 4-10.
Eva Trujillo-Herrera was defeated by No. 121 Tiffany Eklov, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, in the No. 2 singles match. Trujillo-Herrera stands at 5-15.
No. 3 singles Annabelle Espinosa lost to Eldina Fazlic, 7-6 (4), 6-2. Espinosa is now 1-10 on the season.
Anna Pavlovic fell in the No. 5 singles match to Eva Choe, 6-0, 6-3. Pavlovic's season record is 11-12.
In the No. 6 singles match, Genevive Charron was defeated, 6-1, 6-4, by Michelle Webb. Charron is 0-5 on the season.
Marquette lost the doubles point as the No. 3 team of Alexandra Stankovic and Trujillo-Herrera claimed the match, 8-6 over Eklov and Knue. The No. 1 doubles match was taken by No. 15 McGaffigan and Webb, 8-5. Garcia Biseno and Espinosa were defeated, 8-2, by Fazlic and Choe in the No. 2 match.
The Golden Eagles return to action on March 11 as they face Saint Louis in Orlando, Fla.
