Garcia Briseno Falls in Consolation Championship

Milwaukee- Veronica Garcia Briseno brought Caroline Lay to a final, tie-breaker set this afternoon before ultimately falling, 0-6, 6-4, 1-0 (5), to the Michigan State women's tennis player. Garcia Briseno, after dropping her first match against Indiana's Linda Tran, went on to claim victories over Katie Owens (Ball State) and Shelley Brady (Michigan State) to advance to the flight "A" singles consolation championship.
Eva Trujillo-Herrera also faced action in the final day of tournament play. She lost to Ball State's Melissa Roach, 7-6, 3-6, 1-0 (9), in the loser's bracket consolation championship.
All doubles matches played today were "bonus" and the Bukacek/Minkowski tandem was the sole Golden Eagle team to claim a victory. They went 9-8 over Campbell/Campus of Ball State.
Marquette women's tennis is again in action on Friday, October 3, at the Michigan Tournament in Ann Arbor, Mich. The tournament runs through October 5.
