The Golden Eagles conclude their four-match road stretch with a contest at No. 66 Iowa, on Saturday.
Marquette is led in singles by seniors Annabelle Espinosa (4-0), Veronica Garcia Briseno (3-2) and Genevieve Charron (3-2) and freshman Francina Bonnelly (3-1).
Iowa comes into the match with a flawless record of 4-0. After winning their own Hawkeye Invitational (against Iowa State, Northern Iowa and Northern Illinois), they swept Drake 7-0. The Hawkeyes have dropped only one point over those four matches, in singles to Northern Illinois? Karrie Tyioran. A familiar name to Marquette, Tyioran also beat MU?s Dominika Dabrowski in the Golden Eagles? season opener.
Marquette senior Veronica Garcia Briseno will look to lead MU against Iowa, having defeated the Hawkeyes' Jennifer Hodgman, 6-3, 6-2, in the ITA Midwest Regionals held in Kalamazoo last October. She also is the only returner to have won a match in a 4-3 team loss to No. 63 Iowa last year (the rest of the returners went 0-2 in that contest).
