A depleted Marquette women's tennis squad (3-11) traveled to Miami, Fla. to take on the University Miami Hurricanes (12-2), but came up empty handed against the 15th-ranked team in the country.
In doubles' action, the Hurricanes rested their top flight of Megan Bradley and Melissa Applebaum, but still took the two contested doubles matches by matching scores of 8-3.
On the singles' side, Marquette only submitted players for the top four matches, with each losing in straight sets. Genevieve Charron made the strongest showing at No. 2, losing to Applebaum, 7-5, 6-1. Veronica Garcia Briseno faced highly-ranked competition yet again, in the form of 4th- ranked Megan Bradley, but was unable to pull off the upset, losing 6-1, 6-1.
The Golden Eagles return to action tomorrow afternoon at Florida International.
