Women' Tennis Defeated by Iowa

Marquette started the evening battling for the doubles point, but in all three matches were unable to come up with a victory.
The Golden Eagle?s duo of Francina Bonnelly and Elsemieke Dokter put in a strong effort at No. 2 doubles but were unable to overtake Jacqueline Lee and Hillary Mintz, losing the match 9-7.
At No. 1 doubles, Maria Calbeto and Callan Smith were defeated by the Hawkeye?s Megan Racette and Hilary Tyler, 8-1.
After losing the double?s point, Marquette was never able to regain momentum in single?s play.
Coach Jody Bronson was pleased with the effort put in by sophomore, Bonnelly. ?I felt as though Francina improved her play despite her loss today.?
Bonnelly lost, 6-1, 6-2, to Iowa?s Tyler at No. 5.
Milica Veselinovic downed Erin Watkins at No. 4, 6-1, 6-2.
The Golden Eagle?s return to the Helfaer Tennis Stadium on Sunday at 10 a.m. where they will take on Bowling Green.
