In doubles action, Maria Calbeto and Callan Smith were able to defeat Heidi Romer and Susie Schoenberger, 8-5, at No. 1. Francina Bonnelly and Elsemieke Dokter took the match from the Falcon?s Ashley Jakupcin and Jenna Nussbaum, 9-7 at No. 2.
The Golden Eagles were able to come away with the doubles point heading into singles play.
At No. 3, Dokter played hard against Nussbaum, winning the match 7-6, 6-4. Erin Watkins had a decisive win over Bowling Green?s Romer, 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 4 spot. Marquette?s final win came from Francina Bonnelly when she took down Andrea Meister, 6-2, 6-4.
Marquette will be entering an eight game road streak, traveling to Indiana next weekend to take on Indiana on Saturday and Louisville on Sunday.
