Golfers in third place at Pinehurst Intercollegiate

March 28, 2005 ? Marquette juniors Kyle Murphy and Joe Weber posted two-over-par 74?s and sit in sixth place after this morning?s opening round at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate. The tournament is being held at the par-72, 7,035-yard No. 8 in Pinehurst, N.C.

Indiana's Jeff Overton shot a three-under-par 69 and leads the tournament.

The Golden Eagles as a team are currently in a tie for third place with Richmond and Washington State after posting a team score of 303. SMU leads after this morning?s first round at 292, and Indiana is second at 300.

Freshman Ted Gray is the only other Golden Eagle in the top 15 following the morning round, placing 11th thanks to a three-over-par 75. Junior Steve Sass is tied for 45th after shooting an eight-over-par 80, and sophomore Michael Bielawski carded a nine-over-par 81 and is tied for 53rd.

Results from this afternoon?s second round will be available early this evening. Tuesday?s final round is slated to begin at 7:30 a.m. CT.
