Marquette golfers finish fourth at Pinehurst Intercollegiate

Pinehurst, N.C., March 29, 2005 ? The Marquette men?s golf team shot a final round 300 to secure a fourth place finish (303-296-300=899) at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate earlier today.

The 12-team tournament was held at the par-72, 7,035-year No. 8 in Pinehurst, N.C.
Junior Joe Weber shot a five-over-par 77 today to finish in ninth place in the individual competition, the best finish by a Golden Eagle. Weber?s 222 total was his low 54-hole scoring effort of the spring and second best of the year.
In the team competition, SMU carded a three-round total of 875 to edge Xavier by one stroke. SMU?s Colt Knost won the individual competition with a six-under-par 216, one shot better than Indiana?s Jeff Overton.
Freshman Ted Gray was the low Golden Eagle golfer in the final round shooting an even-par 72 to finish in 28th place. All five of Marquette?s golfers carded final rounds in the 70?s.
