Ted Gray Places 20th at St. Croix Collegaite

Golfers Finish Ninth in Caribbean Event
KINGSHILL, St. Croix ? Marquette shot a final round 300 to finish in ninth place in the St. Croix Collegiate Classic, the second event of the spring season for the Golden Eagles. Freshman Ted Gray finished the event in 20th place to lead Marquette.
Gray's final round 75 was the only one he shot over par, finishing three-over for the event. Gray was Marquette's most consistent golfer, paring 36 of the 54 holes. He was eight shots off the lead, set by John Elizondo of Texas-San Antonio. Elizondo led the Roadrunners to a fifth place finish. The tournament champion was Xavier, who was 16 shots in front of Marquette.
Junior Kyle Murphy was one shot behind Gray, placing 27th with a four-over 220. He also shot a final-round 73 and led Marquette with 12 birdies for the event.
Junior Steve Sass and sophomore Michael Bielawski moved up three spots from 39th, shooting 76 in the final round. Both golfers finished with an eight-over, 224, to place 36th.
Junior Joe Weber placed 56th with a 12-over, 228.
The Marquette golf team continues its spring season with the two-day Naples Invitational presented by Lexus beginning March 14 in Fort Myers, Fla.
