Gray Named to the C-USA All-Freshman Team

Marquette places ninth at C-USA tournament

GULFPORT, Miss. ? Marquette moved up one spot in the final standings at the Conference USA Men's Golf Championship to finish ninth. Freshman Ted Gray led the Marquette golfers and earned a spot on the Conference USA All-Freshman team in the process.

Marquette shot a 287 in the final round, bettering its second round total by 21 strokes. The Golden Eagles shot 901 (37-over par) for the 52 holes.

Sophomore Michael Bielawksi shot a team-best 69 in the final round to shoot up in the standings. He vaulted 14 places to 19th, finishing with a five-over 221. Gray was one shot behind, shooting par for the day. He placed 26th finishing at 223.

Junior Kyle Murphy also turned in a solid final round, carding a 71. He placed 43rd at 13-over, 229. Junior Steve Sass was behind Murphy, placing 48th at 17-over, 233. Junior Joe Weber rounded out the Marquette field with an 18-over, 234, placing 52nd.

TCU golfers ran away with the team and individual portions of the event. The Horned Frogs won first by 26 strokes over Charlotte. TCU's Colby Beckstrom and Drew Stoltz tied for the individual lead at seven-under, 209.
