Women's Tennis Falls to Illinois-Chicago, 5-2

The Golden Eagles battled to claim the doubles point, but managed to come up with only one win leaving UIC with the point. At no. 1 doubles, Cory Steven and Callan Smith downed Bonnelly and freshman Lauren Little, 8-5. Dabrowski and freshman Robin Metzler took the second doubles match to a tiebreaker, but came up short against Christina Oum and Iris Jaklin, 9-8, 7-5.
Marquette?s lone win in doubles competition was at the third spot as juniors Katie Donavan and Andrea Bukacek defeated Molly Smith and Grace Gill-Morlis, 9-8, 7-5.
In singles action Marquette won at the second and third positions. Dabrowski defeated Iris Jaklin, 6-2, 6-4 at no. 2 singles, and Bonnelly came up with a win over Smith at no. 3 singles, 6-3, 7-6, 8-6. Metzler and Bukacek were both defeated at the fourth and fifth spots, while Little and Donavan defaulted out of their matches due to injuries.
The Golden Eagles will remain at home this Saturday, February 4, when they host Northern Illinois at 9 a.m. and Wis.-Milwaukee at 4 p.m.
