MILWAUKEE - Click here for the 2006 fall golf schedule.
Head golf coach Tim Grogan has released the fall schedule for the Marquette men's golf team. The slate includes five tournaments in the midwest, east and southeast.
Marquette starts the year on Friday, September 9 with the two-day NCAA Central Regional Preview at Rick Harvest Farms Golf Club in Aurora, Ill.
"The fall schedule promises some very challenging competition," Grogan said. "Our schedule provides a great balance of competition against many of the top programs in the midwest. Also the chance to play at tournaments hosted by BIG EAST schools is a plus. We are also excited to participate in the NCAA Central Regional preview for the first time."
Also in September, MU plays in The McLaughlin at Bethpage Golf Course in Farmingdale, N.Y., on September 22-23.
The Golden Eagles play two tournaments in October. The first tournament is the Xavier Intercollegiate at The Oasis Club in Cincinnati. MU follows that up with the Hoya Invitational at Landsdowne Golf Club in Washington, D.C. Marquette participated in both tournaments a year ago.
For the second straight year, Marquette will host the BIG EAST/MAC Challenge at Orange County National in Winter Garden, Fla. Last year, MU won the event. This year's tournament will. take place on November 4-5.
"The strength of the fall schedule lies in the quality of the golf courses we are playing," Grogan added. "The players will have the opportunity to compete on some of the country's top golf courses and should provide a good test for our players.
Marquette is coming off its best season ever, finishing third in the BIG EAST Championships. Marquette welcomes back two letterwinners from a year ago, junior Ted Gray and sophomore Mike Van Sickle.
