MILWAUKEE - Senior forward Allison Mallams was rewarded for her three-goal performance last weekend by the BIG EAST Conference and was named to the weekly honor roll. It was announced Monday by conference officials. Marquette also secured its spot in the BIG EAST Conference Tournament that begins on Thursday, Nov. 1.
"Allison had a great weekend and played a big part in our offense," said head coach Markus Roeders. "Every game she is getting stronger and feeling more confident. She is ultra explosive and is among the top players in the league. It is unfortunate for her and us that she missed more than half the season due to injury but she is getting back to form. Her three goals on the weekend were excellent and she had several other great chances on Sunday versus Cincinnati. Our entire team is happy for her to be back out there."
Mallams scored all three of Marquette goals last weekend in a 2-2 draw at Louisville on Friday and a 1-1 tie at Cincinnati on Sunday. Against Cincinnati, Mallams registered a school record 12 shots.
Marquette currently stands in third place behind Connecticut and West Virginia in the American Division with 15 points and a 4-2-3 conference record.
The number four and five tournament seeds will play first round matches on Thursday, Nov. 1, at campus sites, while the top-three seeds from each division receive a first round bye and will play quarterfinal matches on Sunday, Nov. 4 at campus sites.
The tournament semifinals and conference championship game will be played on Nov. 9-11 at Dick Dlesk Stadium in Morgantown, W.Va.
The Golden Eagles will wrap-up the regular season at Pittsburgh on Friday, Oct. 26, and at West Virginia on Sunday, Oct. 28.
