Throwers Compete at Illinois Invitational

Champaign, Ill. - The throwers on the Marquette men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Illinois Invitational, Sunday, at the University of Illinois. Highlighting the meet for the Golden Eagles was senior Damian Anisko. He placed first in the hammer throw with a toss of 182-2.75 and also took third in the discus with a heave of 154-6.5.
Senior Jenna Mahaffey had an impressive day on the women's side, placing second in the discus with a toss of 147-7, a season best. Also, with a third-place finish in the shot put (42-2.75), she qualified for the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships. Mahaffey also finished fifth in the hammer throw with a season-best toss of 164-9.
Sophomore Audra Ketelsen also competed in the discus, placing third with a throw of 141-11.25. She also placed second in the javelin with a toss of 119-1.75.
Also competing in the javelin was freshman Kelly Magennis. She placed third with toss of 116-3.5.
The Golden Eagles will return to the track when the squads split, one part competing at the Iowa Musco Twilight, April 20, and the other competing at the Oregon Invitational, April 20-21.
