Mike McDonald, a 2010 graduate of Marquette University and former member of the Golden Eagles men's golf team, carded an final-round 72 Thursday to hang on to win the 110th annual Wisconsin State Golf Association State Amateur Championship, sponsored by Clifton Gunderson.
After shooting a four-under-par 68 at Maple Bluff Country Club on Wednesday, McDonald entered Thursday's final round tied for second place, along with former MU golfer and assistant coach Kyle Murphy.

McDonald, 24, entered this week's event tied for 15th place in the WSGA's Player of the Year standings.
