
Klongland's 66 Leads MU On Day One Of Windon

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Marquette University freshman Henry Klongland fired a second-round 66 Sunday at Knollwood Club golf course, and the Golden Eagles men's golf team is tied for third place following the first 36 holes at the Windon Memorial Classic.
Klongland's 6-under-par 66 was one stroke shy of tying the course record. He is currently tied for 15th overall on the individual leaderboard to pace all MU golfers.
The Stoughton, Wis., native rebounded from a first-round 78 Sunday morning with three straight birdies to start the afternoon. He finished with seven birdies on the round.
Marquette senior Corey Konieczki and sophomore Pat Sanchez are both tied for 28th place. Konieczki carded a second-round 1-under 71, while Sanchez opened with a 70 on his first-round scorecard.
With a team score of 580 after the first day of action, the Golden Eagles are knotted with Coastal Carolina and UC Davis eight strokes behind tournament host Northwestern.
Kent State leads the event, which wraps up with 18 holes Monday morning, at 7-under-par 569 for the tournament.
