MU Finishes 5th at Hawkeye Invitational

IOWA CITY, IOWA - Led by Pat Sanchez, the Marquette men's golf team finished in 5th place at the Hawkeye Great River Entertainment Invitational. Sanchez finished tied for 16th in tough conditions shooting a 221 overall (76-71-74).
The Golden Eagles started the final round in 5th place and were able to maintain that position throughout the day. Zach Gaugert finished T26 (73-75-76) while Nick Nelson finished T32 (76-69-80). Nelson's 69 in the second round was the low round of the tournament for Marquette.
Host school the University of Iowa had the top golfer in the tournament in Steven Ihm who scored an impressive 7-under par 209 (69-71-69). The Hawkeye's also took first overall as a team running away with the tournament coming in at 853.
Up next for MU is the Winchester Classic over Easter weekend in El Macero, Calif.
