
Kendziorski Maintains Top Spot at Erin Hills, MU Third

ERIN, Wis. -- Austin Kendziorski held his spot atop the leaderboard with an even par 72 second round, maintaining a 5-under-par overall score and a two-stroke lead, while No. 22 Marquette sits in third place (290-296-586) after an 8-over-par day on Monday at the Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills.
Teeing off on No. 10, Kendziorski (67-72-139) extended his streak of bogey-free holes to 23, before making a double on the Par 4 15th. He birdied a pair on the front nine coming in to get back to par for the round, and finish with a two stroke lead over Braden Thornberry of Ole Miss. Thornberry (71-70-141) is the defending NCAA Men's Golf individual champion.
For the tournament, Kendziorski has made par or better on 34 of 36 holes.
In total, four players in the 87-man field are under par.
On a day where separation started to grow among the teams, Marquette was jumped in the standings by both No. 1 Texas A&M and UCLA on Monday. The Aggies got a 1-under-par 287 to move three spots up the board with a 4-over-par total (293-287-580), while the Bruins shot a field-best 281 (7-under-par) to move a stroke off the lead (300-281-581). South Florida, which led after Sunday's opening round, is seventh after shooting 306 on Monday.
Marquette goes off starting at 10:10 a.m. CT on Tuesday, along with Texas A&M and UCLA off No. 1.
