BLOOMINGTON, Ind.--The Marquette women's tennis team capped a successful opening weekend in the 2018 slate at the Indiana Winter Invitational. Play concluded on Monday with a slew of doubles matches.
For the Golden Eagles, Natalija Popovic and Milica Novakovic teamed and bested Wright State's Haller and Whitney, 7-5, while Andrea Amortegui joined with Jones from Wright State and the tandem topped a mixed pair from IU and ACU, 6-4 in the fourth round of doubles.
In the fifth and final round, MU earned two victories with Popovic and Novakovic defeating the host squad, 6-3 and Isabella Franks and Lesley Foe took down a duo from Colorado, 6-4.
The Golden Eagles have one week off before opening dual play on Jan. 26 hosting Wisconsin at 2:30 CT.
