
Marquette Travels to Georgetown on Friday

MILWAUKEE--The Marquette University women's basketball team puts takes its undefeated record on the road to wrap up the first half of BIG EAST play this weekend. The Golden Eagles travel to Georgetown, Friday at 6 p.m. CT.
The game airs on the BIG EAST Digital Network with Ben Gordon-Goldstein and Monika Moore calling the action.
Marquette (13-5, 7-0) arrives in D.C. coming off an 88-67 victory over Xavier on Sunday. Four Golden Eagles tallied double-digits, led by junior Allazia Blockton with 19 points. Blockton was named BIG EAST Player of the Week for the second time this season, averaging 20.7 points per game. She connected[FA1] on 58.5 percent shooting and pulled down 4.3 rebounds against Providence, Butler and Xavier.
Marquette boasts five of the BIG EAST's top-20 scorers in Blockton, Natisha Hiedeman, Danielle King, Amani Wilborn and Natisha Hiedeman. Davenport needs just two points to reach 1,000 points for her career. When this occurs, she will join Blockton and Hiedeman in the mark and Marquette will become just the 10th team in Division I this season to boast at least three 1,000-point scorers.
Georgetown enters Friday with an overall record of 7-10 and a 2-5 record in the BIG EAST and has three Hoyas averaging in double figures. Dionna White is averaging 17.5 points per contest, ranking fourth in the BIG EAST, with a league-high 45 steals. Mikayla Venson is second on the squad with 14.4 points per game, ranking 10th in the league, while Cynthia Petke is averaging 10.6 points and her 9.5 rebounds per game rank third in the BIG EAST.
Marquette leads the all-time series with Georgetown, 14-3, including winning all three contests last season.
The Golden Eagles will remain out east and take on Villanova on Sunday, Jan. 21 on FS1. Tip-off is set for 11 a.m. CT.
