WASHINGTON, D.C.--The Marquette women's basketball team was handed its first loss in BIG EAST play on Friday as the Golden Eagles fell, 85-58 at Georgetown.
Marquette (13-6, 7-1) was led by Amani Wilborn with 20 points, while Erika Davenport also recorded double digits with 10 points. Allazia Blockton added six points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Davenport became the 27th player in Marquette program history to reach the 1,000-point plateau with a layup in the first quarter. Marquette is just the tenth team in NCAA Division I this season to have at least three active 1,000-point scorers.
MU entered the break trailing for the first time this season in a league contest, 41-26 as the Golden Eagles were outscored 20-4 in the second quarter. Marquette shot 31.3-percent (10-32) from the floor with no three-point baskets.
A series of scoring droughts plagued the Golden Eagles in the middle 20 minutes of the game as they finished the night shooting, 20-64 (31.3%) from the floor and connected on five from long range, all in the second half.
Marquette wraps up the road trip at Villanova on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT. The game will air live on FS1.
