Cross Country Travels to Champaign for Friday's Illini Open

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- The Marquette University men's and women's cross country teams are competing in the Illini Open, hosted by the University of Illinois, on Friday, October 19.

The meet will take place at the University of Illinois Arboretum and begins with the women's 5-kilometer race at 4 p.m. Central time, followed by the men's 8-kilometer race at 4:40 p.m. CT.

Last weekend, both teams competed in the annual Bradley "Pink" Classic in Peoria, Illinois. Marquette's Mary Hanson and Daniel Pederson led their respective teams with identical 23rd place individual finishes. The men's team took ninth out of 33 teams, while the women were 26th out of 39 teams.

Friday serves as the final tune-up prior to the BIG EAST Championships, which is hosted by Butler University on Saturday, Oct. 27.
