Prpa's Two Goals Pushes Marquette Past Xavier, 2-1

The Golden Eagles take sole possession of fourth place in BIG EAST standings.
MILWAUKEE – Luka Prpa's two second half goals led the Marquette University men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Xavier at Valley Fields on Saturday.
In the 68th minute, Prpa managed to find the net off a set piece with an impressive shot off the bar that slid past Xavier's keeper. The junior's second goal of the night came from a rebound off his own blocked shot in the 77th minute, which proved to be the game-winner.
The Golden Eagles (5-7-1, 3-2-1 BIG EAST) picked up a pivotal three points, moving them past St. John's and Xavier to sole possession of fourth place in the BIG EAST standings.
The Musketeers (4-6-5, 2-3-1 BIG EAST) scored early in the sixth minute off a one touch goal by senior Simen Hestnes.
Senior goalkeeper Luis Barraza made one save on the night as the Marquette defense did an admirable job protecting the net.
The Golden Eagles improved their record against the Musketeers to 6-3-0 all-time and are now unbeaten in the last two meetings.
Marquette travels to Omaha, Neb. for its next match against No. 8 Creighton on Wednesday, Oct. 24. Kickoff is slated for 7:05 p.m. Central time.
