No. 19 Marquette Blanks Xavier, 3-0 on Wednesday

Barber, Rosenthal and Haak all tally double digit kills
MILWAUKEE— The No. 19 Marquette University volleyball team picked up its third consecutive sweep with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-20) win over Xavier at the Al McGuire Center on Wednesday afternoon as part of Field Trip Day.
Leading the Golden Eagles (13-4, 4-1) was junior Allie Barber with 14 kills followed by seniors Jenna Rosenthal and Anna Haak with 12 kills and 10, respectively. Lauren Speckman and Sarah Rose each gave out 25 and 18 assists in the win, while sophomore libero Martha Konovodoff collected a match-high 13 digs.
Marquette set the pace in the first set with a 25-19 win, out hitting the Musketeers, .345 to just a .138 percentage. In the second frame Marquette came out strong recording its highest hitting percentage of the match with a .545 clip and no errors. In the third set, Marquette started out slow and trailed Xavier, but after the Musketeers called timeout holding an 18-16 lead, the Golden Eagles closed out the set with a 9-2 run to complete the sweep.
Xavier (4-12, 2-3) was led by Laura Grossman with nine kills and Morgan Fin with eight while Nadia Dieudonne recorded 15 assists.
The Golden Eagles combined for a season-best .441 hitting percentage with just nine errors through the three sets paced by a blistering .706 mark from Rosenthal with no hitting errors and a .591 clip from Barber.
Marquette will head to Chicago to take on BIG EAST travel partner DePaul on Saturday, Oct. 6 at Noon Central time.
