
Marquette and DePaul play to scoreless draw

The Golden Eagles will head to Providence for a noon CT Sunday match
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw with longtime rival DePaul on Thursday evening at Valley Fields.
Junior goalkeeper Maddy Henry notched seven saves for her second straight clean sheet as the Golden Eagles (3-8-2, 1-2-1 BIG EAST) were outshot 20-13.
After allowing 13 shots from the Blue Demons in the first half, Marquette held DePaul to just three more through the end of regulation.
MU freshman midfielder Alyssa Bombacino had a look near the end of regulation but hit the crossbar in the 86th minute. Redshirt senior Carrie Madden also hit iron in the 106th minute with a shot off the right post.
Marquette is 15-5-2 against DePaul, including a 9-1-1 record in Milwaukee, and had won each of the previous two meetings. The Golden Eagles began the series with seven straight wins, outscoring DePaul 26-0 in that stretch and posted another six wins in a row from 2005-13.
The Golden Eagles resume their BIG EAST Conference slate at Providence on Sunday at noon Central time.
