MU hosts Charleston Southern on FS Wisconsin
The Marquette University men's basketball team (4-2, 0-0 BIG EAST) opens a season-long, seven-game homestand Tuesday night when the team welcomes Charleston Southern (4-2, 0-0 Big South) to Fiserv Forum for a 7 p.m. CT opening tip. Â FS Wisconsin will feature the television broadcast, with Shane Bacon (play-by-play) and Stephen Howard (analyst) calling the action. Â Following Tuesday night's action, the Golden Eagles wil host No. 12/10 Kansas State on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 1:30 p.m. CT.
Marquette's month of December is highlighted by visits from a trio of teams currently ranked in the nation's top-25 or receiving votes. Â No. 12/10 Kansas State will be the highest ranked non-conference opponent to visit Milwaukee since 2014-15 (No. 2 Wisconsin) and the Golden Eagles will also welcome No. 22/22 Wisconsin (Dec. 8) and No. 21/20 Buffalo (Dec. 21) to Fiserv Forum.
The team hasn't had this many outings in a row at home since the 2006-07 campaign, when it welcomed eight-straight opponents to the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
Marquette won't leave Milwaukee again until New Years Eve when the team departs for the BIG EAST lidlifter the next day at St. John's.
Down by five points with just over two minutes left in regulation, MU clawed back into the game and a tip-in by freshman Joey Hauser with 15 seconds on the clock forced overtime. Â Hauser wasn't done, helping seal the victory with a pair of free throws in the closing seconds of the extra session.
Junior forward Ed Morrow matched his season high with eight points and classmate Sacar Anim chipped in a season-best seven rebounds off the bench.
In the two outings against Kansas and Louisville, Hauser averaged 21.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 50.0 percent (14-of-28) from the floor over all and 10-of-20 (50.0 percent) from behind the 3-point line. Â He knocked down a season-best six treys against the second-ranked Jayhawks.
