INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 18-ranked Marquette University volleyball team came away with a three-set sweep against Butler (25-19, 25-15, 25-21) in Indianapolis on Friday night.
Marquette (23-5, 13-2 BIG EAST) has now won 13 of its last 14 match-wins and improves its win streak to four. It's also completes the series sweep against the Bulldogs after the team blanked Butler in Milwaukee earlier this season.
The Golden Eagles were led by junior Allie Barber who notched 20 kills at a .394 clip. She was followed up by Anna Haak with seven kills and team-high and season-high 22 digs, while Jenna Rosenthal added in six kills of her own alongside three blocks.
"Butler's block always presents challenges," head coach Ryan Theis said. "It was nice to get out of there in three sets. Allie hitting 20 kills in three sets and Anna's 22 digs are pretty impressive."
Marquette took the first set 25-19 and strolled through the second set after notching a match-high 12-point lead, 25-15. Rosenthal finished out both sets with the game winning kill.
The third and final set proved to be a tighter contest, but Marquette closed out strong, 25-21. Barber recorded her 20th kill on the match-winning point.
Lauren Speckman tallied 22 assists on the night, followed by Sarah Rose with 12 helpers.
Butler (8-19, 5-10) was led by Brooke Gregory and Bri Lily with six kills apiece.
The Golden Eagles finish out their last roadtrip of the regular season at Xavier on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 11:30 a.m. CT.
