
Marquette Tops Texas State, 4-2

SAN MARCOS, Texas--The Marquette women's tennis team won its second consecutive match on Thursday, earning a 4-2 victory at Texas State to kick off a pair of matches this weekend.
The Golden Eagles have worked their way back to .500 with a 7-7 overall record this season.
Marquette dropped the doubles point through three, close matches that all went into extra sets and fell behind 2-0 after Texas State claimed the first singles match. Natalija Popovic put the Golden Eagles on the board with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles. Lesley Foe evened the match at 2-2 as she fought to a 6-4, 7-5 victory at the No. 5 position and Andrea Amortegui followed with a battle at the No. 4 spot, winning the match, 6-2, 2-6, 7-5. Fleur Eggink clinched the victory for Marquette as she came from behind and took a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 win at the No. 3 position.
The Golden Eagles will take on Texas- San Antonio on Saturday, March 31 at 2 p.m. CT.
