Women's Tennis Opens at IU Invite

The Golden Eagles continue play throughout the weekend
BLOOMINGTON, Ind.-- The Marquette women's tennis team got back to the court to open their spring season with tournament action at the Indiana Winter Invitational on Saturday as a tune up heading into dual play, which begins next weekend.
Marquette played two rounds of doubles and one of singles on the opening day and the tandem of Fleur Eggink and Natalija Popovic started with a 6-4 win over a pairing from Wichita State. Lesley Foe and Isabella Franks teamed for a round one victory over a mixed pairing from IU and Abilene Christian University, 6-3.
In singles, Franks return for an opening win over Wright State, 6-1, 6-2, while Milica Novakovic won her singles match with a smooth 6-0, 6-3 decision.
Play in Bloomington resumes on Sunday morning and will continue through the day.
