Villanova (7-5-3, 3-2-1 BIG EAST) received a 57th minute score from Sam Rosette to pull within one and nearly tied the match in the 63rd minute. MU goalkeeper Maddy Henry denied a penalty kick from VU's Kristin Barbour and added another save on an ensuing shot after a second shot attempt by the Wildcats hit the crossbar.
