
Golf takes 11th at the Hoakalei Invitational

The Golden Eagles concluded their fall season on Wednesday in Hawaii

EWA BEACH, Hawaii – The Marquette University men's golf team placed 11th in the Hoakalei Country Club Invitational after Wednesday's final round in 'Ewa Beach, Hawaii.
Junior Hunter Eichhorn (72-68-72—212) was the high finisher for the Golden Eagles in a tie for 14th place (4-under) after an even-par 72 third round. Eichhorn began his morning on the fourth hole and pulled within three strokes of the lead after recording his second eagle of the tournament on the par-4 11th hole. After a birdie on the par-5 13th, he would go on to shoot 4-over par on holes 15-17 to bring him back to even par on the day.
Freshman Aidan Lafferty (72-72-73—217) continued a solid start to his freshman campaign by tying for 40th place as MU's second finisher at 1-over par. Lafferty carded consecutive rounds of par on Monday and Tuesday and recorded birdies on four of this first seven holes on Wednesday.
Senior Matt Murlick (71-73-74—218) and sophomore Tyler Leach (71-75-74—220) finished in a tie for 45th and 57th, respectively.
Marquette (286-287-293—866) dropped four spots on the team leaderboard on Wednesday after shooting 5-over par on the day. East Tennessee State (276-286-273-835), ranked No. 32 in Golfstat, won the tournament, while Ole Miss (No. 41 in Golfstat) and Louisville (No. 10) rounded out the top three.
The Golden Eagles resume the 2019-20 campaign in the new year on Feb. 16-18 at the Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grade, Puerto Rico at the Rio Mar Country Club River Course.
