
Anim and Bailey Lead #MUBB to 66-62 win over Robert Morris

MILWAUKEE — Sacar Anim scored a season-high 14 points as the Marquette men's basketball team overcame a one-point halftime deficit to defeat Robert Morris, 66-62, on Saturday afternoon at Fiserv Forum.

MU trailed 20-19 at halftime after shooting 36 percent from the floor and turning the ball over 13 times.

Sophomore forward Brendan Bailey scored seven points to spark a 9-0 run in the opening minutes of the second half to give his team a seven-point lead. He netted a season-high 10 points on the afternoon, with all of them coming in the second half.

MU shot 46.4 percent (13-of-28) from the floor and led by as many as 12 points in the final 20 minutes of play. RMU went on a 12-3 run cut a double-figure lead down to three (63-60) with 30 seconds to play after a 3-pointer by sophomore guard Dante Treacy.

Redshirt junior Koby McEwen knocked down three straight free throws in the final minute to put the game out of reach and seal a four-point win for the Golden Eagles.

Senior guard Markus Howard was held to a season-low 11 points while Koby McEwen scored 10 points and dished out a game-high five assists. Theo John finished with eight points and four boards on the afternoon while Greg Elliott tied a career-high with six rebounds.

Robert Morris saw four players reach double figures, with Treacy leading the way with 14 points.

MU held the Colonials to 37.1 percent (23-of-62) shooting from the field, marking the third time in four games this season the Golden Eagles have held their opponent under 40 percent shooting.

BIG PICTURE
After overcoming a sluggish start to defeat RMU, the Golden Eagles will look to build on the win next week at the Orlando Invitational. MU will get three games guaranteed, beginning with the Davidson Wildcats in the quarterfinals on Thanksgiving night. The winner will take on either USC or Fairfield. The No. 6-ranked Maryland Terrapins highlight the other side of the eight-team tournament bracket.
