Marquette Heads to South Dakota State

MILWAUKEE— The Marquette women's basketball team will be Brookings, South Dakota on Tuesday, Dec. 17 to take on the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Frost Arena.

The contest will be streaming live and for a fee on South Dakota State's Athletics website.

The Golden Eagles (7-2) are currently on a three-game win streak with their most recent win coming against crosstown foe Milwaukee 78-56. Freshman guard Jordan King paved the way offensively, collecting a career-high 18 points along with three rebounds and assists. Her performance landed her a spot on the BIG EAST honor roll for the first time this season. Guards Selena Lott (14) and Isabelle Spingola (11) also ended up in double-digit scoring. Defensively, Altia Anderson collected a team-high seven rebounds and a block. Anderson is currently 43^rd in the country in total blocks with 17 through nine games.

Marquette has four players that average double digits this season. Lott is out in front with 15.9 points per game, while Spingola is collecting 11.7. Lauren Van Kleunen and King are also adding 10.6 points per game, respectively. On the defensive side, Anderson is pulling down 6.7 rebounds per game, while Chloe Marotta nabs 6.2.

UP NEXT: Marquette will return home after a four-game road trip to host Belmont on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. CT at the Al McGuire Center.

OPPONENTS
South Dakota State (7-5): The Jackrabbits are led in scoring by Junior Myah Selland, who collects an average of 13.8 points per game. Sophomore Paiton Burckhard is another key offensive player as she is averaging 13.5 per game, shooting 56.2% on the year. Burckhard is also leading SDSU on the glass, pulling down 5.2 rebounds per game. As a team, South Dakota State averages 66.9 points per game and holds opponents to just 58.5. They also own a +7.3 margin on the boards.

THE SERIES
Marquette has not lost to South Dakota State in all five matchups. Last season the two squads opened the season in Milwaukee and MU came out on top, 91-52.
