Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. CT on the BIG EAST Digital Network
MILWAUKEE--The 8th-ranked Marquette women's basketball team hopes to keep the momentum rolling and take a 12-game winning streak to New York facing St. John's on Friday, Feb. 15 at 6 p.m. CT.Â
Friday's game will air live on the BIG EAST Digital Network with Pat O'Keefe and Sky Lindsay handling announcing duties from Carnesecca Arena.
Marquette (21-3, 12-0) has clinched a first round bye in the 2019 BIG EAST tournament thanks to two impressive wins over the weekend. 23 rebounds from Erika Davenport and nine assists from Amani Wilborn helped seal the win against Georgetown, while Natisha Hiedeman and Allazia Blockton led the team to victory against Villanova with 22 points and 19 points, respectively.Â
Hiedeman's 17.9 points per game aren't her only team best. She also ranks first in assists with 4.6 per game, first in steals with 2.0 per game, and even ranks second in rebounding, averaging 5.8, while Davenport leads the way with 9.6 rebounds per game.
Following Friday's competition, the Golden Eagles will head to New Jersey to battle Seton Hall on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 11 a.m. CT.
OPPONENT
ST. JOHN'S (12-12, 5-8 BIG EAST): For the first time in her career, St. John's redshirt senior forward Curteeona Brelove was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Coming off a two-win weekend against Creighton and Providence, Brelove averaged 13.5 points on 47.0 percent shooting, boasting team highs in both categories.Â
On top of some impressive individual performances, expect some ball movement from the Red Storm. The BIG EAST leader in assists, Tiana England, recorded five assists in her last game and should be expected to keep that up.Â
