Megan Menzuber scores a career-high five goals
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette women's lacrosse team rolled past Detroit Mercy, 22-9, on Sunday afternoon at Valley Fields.

The Golden Eagles (2-2) were led by junior Megan Menzuber's career-high five goals. Senior Grace Gabriel scored all four of her goals in the second half, while graduate student Charlotte McGuire equaled with four of her own and freshman Shea Garcia added in a hat trick.

McGuire scored the first goal of the game just 49 seconds en route to recording a hat trick in the first 30 minutes of action. It's the second straight game with at least three goals for the Northfield, Illinois native, who helped give Marquette a 7-4 edge heading into halftime.Â

McGuire also opened up the second half scoring barrage with a goal just 28 seconds into play. Marquette rattled off three straight in the second stanza and built up its lead to 10 with just under 15 minutes to play.Â

Gabriel won eight draw controls while Cate Soccodato dished out five assists. The Golden Eagles came a goal shy of the program record of 23 tallies in a game and improve to 5-0 all-time against the Titans.

Goalkeeper Jules Horning made seven saves to lead Marquette.

Detroit Mercy (0-2) was led by Kaitlyn Wandelt with four tallies.
