Men’s DMR breaks 38-year old Marquette program record

Alec Miller, Daniel Bendel, Derek Gross and Brad Eagan broke the record at GVSU
ALLENDALE, Michigan – Marquette University's men's distance medley relay team of Alec Miller, Daniel Bendel, Derek Gross and Brad Eagan broke a 38-year old program record in a time of 9:49.05 at the GVSU Big Meet on Saturday afternoon at the Kelly Family Sports Center.
That time broke the mark of 9:51.23 set in 1981 at the Central Collegiate Championships, hosted by the University of Michigan. Marquette M Club Hall of Famers John Rydeski and David Uhrich joined with Scott Roberts and Jeff Grant to set the standard that stood until Saturday.
Miller ran the 1,200-meter leadoff leg in 2:59.5, followed by Bendel, the lone underclassman, in a time of 48.4 seconds for his 400-meter portion. Derek Gross ran the 800 in 1:53.4 before Eagan closed out the event with a mark of 4:07.07 in the 1,600.
The women's team of Emma Moravec, Evelyn Granados, Amy Gasperlin and Mary Hanson combined for the eighth-fastest time ever at MU with a mark of 11:49.14.
Sophomore Marin McClowry tied for second in the women's high jump at a height of 1.64 meters.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday, Feb. 15 in Madison, Wisconsin at the Wisconsin Shell Shocker, before the BIG EAST Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 22-23.
