No. 1 Marquette Advances to BIG EAST Title Game with 75-62 win over Georgetown

Blockton and Hiedeman each record 23 points to lead the Golden Eagles
CHICAGO—For the third straight year the Marquette women's basketball team will play in the BIG EAST Tournament title game as the top-seeded Golden Eagles defeated No. 4 Georgetown, 75-62 on Monday afternoon at Wintrust Arena.
Senior dynamic duo Allazia Blockton and Natisha Hiedeman each recorded 23 points to lead the Golden Eagles (26-6) as Blockton posted her second double-double of the season with 10 boards. Classmate Amani Wilborn also posted double digits with 12 points.
Marquette led for 35 minutes of the game, though it was a series of runs as the Golden Eagles were up by as many as 20 points in the second quarter, but Georgetown (16-15) cut the lead to 39-33 at the break. The Golden Eagles held their biggest lead of 21 points, 66-45 after Hiedeman connected in the paint at the 7:41 mark.
The Golden Eagles were hot from beyond the arc on Monday setting a new record for three-pointers made in the BIG EAST with 12, including a 5-for-9 mark from Hiedeman and 3-for-8 tally by Blockton.
Marquette will face either No. 2 seed DePaul or No. 6 seed Creighton on Tuesday, March 12. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. CT on FS1.
