MU Falls to No. 11 Northwestern

The Golden Eagles begin conference play at home next Saturday against Villanova
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women's lacrosse team fell to No. 11 Northwestern at Valley Fields, 24-4, in its final nonconference contest of the season on Saturday night.

The Golden Eagles (6-6, 0-0 BIG EAST) had four different players tally goals, including Grace Gabriel, whose goal came just over 30 seconds into the game and gave Marquette its only lead. Megan Menzuber, Shea Garcia and Madison Kane rounded out scoring for the Golden Eagles in their first home game in a month.

Northwestern (6-3, 1-0 Big Ten) responded with 16 unanswered goals following Gabriel's tally, spanning into the second half. Kane's goal to end the game broke six in-a-row for the Wildcats and Northwestern was led by Izzy Scane with five scores.

Gabriel also collected five draw controls and scooped up three ground balls.

Marquette opens its conference slate next Saturday against Villanova. First draw at Valley Fields is set for Noon Central time.
