Marquette Falters 4-3 at Xavier

Eggink, Chinikova and Foe score for the Golden Eagles
CINCINNATI, Ohio-- The Marquette women's tennis team took on its second BIG EAST opponent of the season on Saturday at Xavier, falling in a tough 4-3 decision after giving a good effort on the court.
The Golden Eagles (8-8) dropped the doubles point to open play and went down 2-0 early after Xavier scored first in singles. Lesley Foe played a strong match at No. 6 singles and gave the Golden Eagles their first point as she claimed a 6-4, 6-3 win. The Musketeers pressed in singles play, but Fleur Eggink and Alexandrina Chinikova scored for the Golden Eagles as they each went through solid matches at the No. 1 and No. 4 positions, respectively. Eggink took a 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 comeback victory, while Chinikova held on for a 6-4, 3-6, 6-0 win.
Marquette continues road matches as the squad will be back in action on Friday, March 29 at DePaul. First serve is set for 7 p.m. CT in Chicago.Â
