Lacrosse tops St. John's, 12-8

The Golden Eagles have won the last six meetings against the Red Storm
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men's lacrosse team used an 8-0 run spanning the second and third quarters to capture a 12-8 victory over St. John's on Saturday afternoon at Valley Fields.
Redshirt senior Tanner Thomson led the Golden Eagles (6-4, 2-1 BIG EAST) with six points, including four goals, while senior John Wagner posted two goals and a pair of assists. Sophomore goalie John Hulsman posted a season-best 15 saves and freshman face-off specialist Thomas Washington won 11-of-15 draws.
Thomson tallied the day's first scores early in the first quarter to put MU ahead 2-0 before four-straight from the Red Storm. MU rebounded from that 4-2 deficit after the first quarter to pull ahead 10-4 early in the third on Thomson's third of the day.
Colin Duffy notched five goals for the Red Storm (4-7, 0-2 BIG EAST), who face No. 13/10 Denver on Saturday, April 13 in Queens, New York.
Thomson's four goals propelled him to eighth all-time in MU history with 23 goals this season. He sits tied with Kyle Whitlow (2014), Tyler Melnyk (2013) and Ryan McNamara (2015).
Wagner is tied for fourth in MU's single season annuls with 16 assists this season.
The Golden Eagles return to action in their annual midweek showdown with Notre Dame on Wednesday, April 11 in Notre Dame, Indiana.
