Eggink is a second-time honoree, while Novakovic earns her first all-league award
NEW YORK-- For the third consecutive season the Marquette women's tennis team has a pair of players earning All-BIG EAST accolades as Fleur Eggink and Milicia Novakovic claim awards for the 2018-19 season, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Eggink took first team honors after being selected to the second team a season ago. The junior led Marquette at the No. 1 position with an 12-5 mark in dual play ending the season on a three-match winning streak. Eggink also played at the top spot in doubles earning nine wins paired with Natalija Popovic. Â
Novakovic claims the first all-conference award of her career as she earned 12 singles wins and too an 11-7 record at the No. 3 spot, while finding a 3-1 record at the No. 3 doubles position with Lesley Foe.
"I am very proud that Fleur and Milica were recognized for their hard work and dedication this year and their results definitely showed that they deserve these honors," head coach Jody Bronson said.
The Golden Eagles compiled a 12-10 record in dual play this spring and fell in a heartbreaker in the quarterfinals round of the BIG EAST Tournament.Â
