
Marquette Finishes 8th in NCAA Golf Austin Regional

Hunter Eichhorn shot MU's low round of the day and finished T-18 in his second regional
AUSTIN, Texas — Hunter Eichhorn finished tied for 18th after shooting an even par 71 in the final round, leading Marquette in its eighth-place showing in the NCAA Men's Golf Championship Austin Regional at University of Texas Golf Club.
Marquette (290-297-293—880, 28-over-par) closed the 2018-19 season with its best-ever NCAA regional finish and score. The Golden Eagles, seeded eighth, were playing in their fourth regional appearance as a team.
After shooting a 219 and finishing tied for 25th in his NCAA debut last season, Eichhorn improved on that showing and jumped six spots in the final day, as he progressively scored lower in each round (73-72-71—216). After going out at 1-over-par on the front nine, Eichhorn made a pair of birdies on the final five holes to come in at 1-under-par.
Senior Austin Kendziorski (72-73-72—217, 4-over-par) scored a 1-over-par 72 in the final round, moving to tie for 20th in his final collegiate event. Classmate Oliver Farrell closed his career with a 7-over-par, 220 final score (72-73-75—220) and a tie for 32nd.
Top-seeded Texas claimed the Austin Regional victory with a 9-under-par final round and a 25-under-par 827 on its home course, while TCU's Stefano Mazzoli, and Texas's Steven Chervony and Cole Hammer shared regional medalist honors at 9-under-par.
TCU, Clemson, Pepperdine and USC joined the host Longhorns in advancing to the NCAA Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas at The Blessings May 24-29. Julian Perico of Arkansas was the individual to advance, tying for sixth at 3-under-par.
