Busy schedule results in multiple wins
The Marquette University men's tennis team wrapped up its opening weekend with singles and doubles action at the Bobby Bayliss Invitational, hosted by the University of Notre Dame.
Nine players were in action at UND and the Golden Eagles were able to collect multiple victories in both singles and doubles. Each of the three freshmen collected their respective first collegiate victories and the coaching staff shuffled doubles combinations throughout the weekend.
"We had a lot of positives this weekend and were able to get in a bunch of matches, which is what you want from the fall schedule," head coach Steve Rodecap said. "It's always good to get through the first tournament and now we can turn our focus to helping all of our guys improve."
Seniors Luke Smrek and Brett Meyers were in action at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic. After dropping opening decisions in the main draw, both were able to claim at least one win in the consolation bracket.
The Golden Eagles will return to action Oct. 4-6 at the Purdue Fall Invitational.
