The Marquette University men's tennis team opens its dual campaign this weekend at Minnesota on Saturday, Jan. 18 in Rochester, Minn. Opening serve is set for 5 p.m. CT.

Marquette returns eight letterwinners from last season's squad, which finished 15-9 overall and advanced to the BIG EAST Tournament title match for the fifth-straight campaign. The Golden Eagles have finished with a winning dual record in each of the last seven seasons and 13 of the last 14 under Director of Tennis Steve Rodecap, who is in his 17^th season at MU.

"Our guys came back early from the semester break to get started and are eager to get back on the court in competition," Rodecap said. "We have a great group and are looking forward to improving with every passing match as we progress toward our goal of claiming a league title."

Senior Brett Meyers is the team's top returnee in terms of singles wins, having claimed 25 decisions in 2018-19. Marquette's roster features depth throughout the lineup, with Fran San Andres, Luis Heredia Gomez, Meyers, Brandon Shanklin and Luke Smrek all back after double-digit victory campaigns.

Following Saturday's action, Marquette heads to Iowa on Jan. 25 to continue a three-match road swing prior to the team's season debut at Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
