
Track & Field Resumes Season at Milwaukee

The dual meet at the Klotsche Center begins at 10 a.m.
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men's and women's track and field teams continue their 2019-20 indoor season on Saturday, Jan. 18 at the John Tierney Invitational. This meet will be held at Milwaukee inside the Klotsche Center beginning at 10 a.m. Central time.

"We are really looking forward to getting back into competition mode this weekend at our dual meet with Milwaukee," Marquette track and field head coach Bert Rogers said. "It's a fun local rivalry, we get a lot of family, friends and alumni that come out for this one. It's a great opportunity to just focus on the competition and less so about chasing marks."

Field events, starting with the men's shot put, start up at 10 a.m. CT before concluding with the pole vault at 12:30 p.m. The women's mile kicks off the track events at 1 p.m. and the day finishes with the 4x400-meter relays at 3:30 p.m.

The women's team came up victorious (80-70) while the men's team fell short (76-69). Breanne Marchan rolled to a then-PR and a win in the 60-meter dash (7.65) while Mary Hanson and Emma Moravec finished at Nos. 1 and 2 in the mile.

On the men's side, Daniel Bendel (50.19) cruised to a victory in the 400 meter while Brad Eagan won the 3,000 meters by almost nine seconds with a time of 8:34. Joe Keys and Noah Kowal each set PR's in the pole vault.

Both men's and women's teams will head back to Notre Dame next Saturday, Jan. 25 for the Notre Dame Invitational. The meet will take place at Notre Dame's Loftus Sports Center.

NOTABLES FROM NOTRE DAME ON DEC. 6:
- 2019 Second Team All-American Daniel Armstrong started his senior season off with a bang after finishing in first place in the high jump with a height of 2.16 meters/7 feet, 1 inch.
- Jefferson Osunkwo hit a new personal record in the triple jump with a distance of 13.39 meters/43 feet, 11.25 inches, taking first place.
- Cameron Jemison hit the No. 7 all-time mark in program history in the pole vault with a height of 4.65 meters/15 feet, 3 inches.Â
- Zachariah Murray (400 meters) ran the No. 8 fastest 400m (49.0) all-time in school history.
- Julian Wright (200 meters) won his race and hit the No. 9 mark all-time (22.22).
- Mila Puseljic (triple jump) began her Golden Eagle career with a first-place finish (11.18 meters/36 feet, 8.25 inches).
- Arianna Mansavage earned runner-up honors in the 400-meter with a time of 56.99. Her time also put her at No. 6 all-time at MU in school history.
- Senior captain Madison Marko jumped a personal-best 5.49 meters/18 feet, 0.25 inches to finish third in the long jump.
- Sophomore thrower Lizzy Cagle improved on her previous personal best in the weight throw by over 10 feet to take fifth place.
- Freshman Juru Okwaramoi (60-meter hurdles) ran a 9.17 in her collegiate debut, a time which landed her in ninth all-time in program history for the event.
