NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Marquette University track and field teams completed competition at the Notre Dame Invitational with several top-10 all-time marks in school history. Both the men's and women's teams placed fifth overall in the team standings.
"Overall I was pleased with how we performed today in against solid competition," Marquette head coach Bert Rogers said. "We had a couple people nicked up today that we had to hold out, so hopefully we can get closer to full strength soon."
The meet that included 17 events on each side, beginning with the long jump and concluding with the 4x400-meter relay races.
The highlight of the day for the men's team was in the 4x400m relay, where the team of Joe Keys, Zachariah Murray, Sam Sagan and Julian Wright took first place with a time of 3:16.31, the No. 3 mark all-time in MU history.
On the women's side, the 4x400 relay team of Emma Moravec, Arianna Mansavage, Breanne Marchan and Juru Okwaramoi took second place with a time of 3:51.45, narrowly missing out on a top-10 all-time finish.
"Our 4x400 teams were awesome today and they should be contenders to place at the conference championships," Rogers added. "We have to keep getting better as a unit and figure out how we can be most successful as the season goes on."
MU is back in action at the Black & Gold Invitational, which takes place Jan. 31-Feb. 1 at the University of Iowa.
